I figured a clinic that only does braces is better than a general dentist. I booked an appointment via email and mentioned I want retainers not full on braces. They immediately responded by telling me the prices for all three retainer options without me asking: 1. In-house clear retainers $250 for top or bottom, $500 for top and bottom 2. Hawley retainers $350 for top or bottom, $700 for top and bottom 3. Vivera retainers $500 for top or bottom, $1000 for top and bottom, set of 4 (does this mean four of each or four total pieces idk)

I had braces for several years as a teenager back in the '90s and I HATED my orthodontist back then. When I got my braces off, my teeth looked good enough, but they were never perfect. I then lost my retainer and had my bottom teeth shift out of position - my top teeth were straight enough but my bottom ones were a mess! After years of being told I was a perfect candidate for Invisalign by every dental professional who looked at my teeth, I caved and went to Dr. Jenn for a consultation after seeing my sister-in-law's results. I was so impressed by Dr. Jenn that I decided to go forward with Invisalign and I'm so happy I did.  Dr. Jenn is extremely detail oriented and has gone out of her way to happily accommodate my preferences and requests (e.g., no attachments on my front teeth, asking Invisalign to make sure the midlines of my top and bottom teeth are lined up, etc.) She's as much of a perfectionist as I am and I know when I finish my treatment my teeth won't just be good enough - they'll be perfect! I opted to get the Propel treatment and Dr. Jenn made it as painless as possible, and called me personally later that night to make sure I was feeling OK. I've really enjoyed working with Dr. Jenn and her staff.  Everyone is friendly and professional and I actually look forward to my appointments. The staff has been so helpful as I've had a few hiccups - I broke an old filling on a popcorn kernel and had to get a crown, which didn't quite fit in my Invisalign trays (they quickly rescanned my teeth and cut my existing tray to fit while we waited for the new ones to come in) - and I got pregnant and had bad nausea for a few months, which made it hard to wear the trays as much as required (they had me stay in one set of trays and only wear them at night until the nausea went away, then I re-started wearing the trays 22 hours a day). I'm nearing the end of my treatment now and I'll be sad when I don't have regular appointments anymore - it's night and day from my first orthodontic experience!

I was desperately trying to find a suitable orthodontist last year because I stupidly ordered smile direct club and my smile did not improve one bit. The initial consultation was quick and informative. Being able to pay monthly really helped me and that is what I really needed. The cost is affordable and reasonable and the customer service is awesome! I never had braces when I was younger because I was told I had to break my jaw to fix my cross bite/under bite.  Dr.Grinbaum only had one tooth removed and moved my teeth so quickly. After a few months, I no longer had an underbite. I ended up moving to California in the middle of my treatment but did not want to change orthodontists. My treatment was done in FOURTEEN months. I am baffled and so happy. They really worked with me to get things done fast since I always fly in every 6-8 weeks. The staff and Dr.Grinbaum are the best. I was a little suspicious about all the 5-star reviews and visited several orthodontists for consultations before making the decision to go with Central Park Ortho. The office was clean, Helen at reception was friendly and Dr. Pliakas really listened to my concerns and helped me understand the plan to get results I'd be happy with. Helen explained my payment schedule and how insurance would be handled moving forward - no confusion and no pressure to commit. When my search was done, I came back to CPO and have been an Invisalign patient with Dr. Pliakas for 9 months. My smile is everything I'd hoped for and worth every penny! Every appointment was friendly, fast, easy and Helen made me feel comfortable each and every visit. She worked with my schedule and always made me feel welcome. Dr. Pliakas is absolutely the best choice on the Upper West Side. If you're looking for the perfect place and perfect smile, this is it. 5 stars well deserved. :)

Wisdom I wish I could pass along to my 13 year-old self: - Beanie Babies will never increase in value. Stop buying them, right now. - Do buy stock in Apple, you don't need to understand, just do it. - Don't kiss David from down the street, he'll end up kissing your best friend a week later and he totally sucks. - Wear your retainer, your teeth WILL move and fixing them (again) is going to be expensive and terrible. Unfortunately because I decided not to wear my retainer after my first stint with braces, I found myself in Doctor Kuncio's office sheepishly explaining that I'd selected him for Braces: The Sequel. He thoroughly explained my options for treatment, cost, timelines, and suggested I take some time to make a decision. After much deliberation, several Google searches about extra organs and their going rate, I signed myself up for the Invisalign treatment. During my year-long treatment process, Dr. Kuncio and his staff (Hannah and Rita, especially!) were always amazingly sweet and incredibly accommodating scheduling appointments around my hectic work/play schedule. While everyone's treatments are undoubtedly individual, I found that Dr. Kuncio was great about explaining every step of the treatment, address anticipated concerns, and even make himself available when I had a concern; like when I had a blister on my gum-- which ended up being from eating food that was too hot (#FatKidProblems). I'm finished with my treatment and am thrilled with the results-- and this time? Totally wearing that retainer.

I've been going to Advanced Dental Arts for three years now, and have always received excellent service from all staff. While I recommend them as an all around great dentistry location, they went above and beyond when one of my front teeth needed to be capped. I was terrified that it was going to be this glaring, off-color tooth for the rest of my life. The dental team at ADA gently walked me through my options (there were some tears involved!), and recommended a cap and a veneer for the other front tooth so that one would not look different from the other. Two years later, and I am so very happy with their work, and get compliments regularly on how great my teeth look.  Much gratitude to this team, I'll be going here for as long as I live in NYC!
